Hello and thank you for subscribing to (or just viewing) the Nontext newsletter by Nonstndrd Creative. You may be wondering exactly what this is so I will use this opportunity to provide some background about myself and lay out my vision for this project. First off, I think an introduction is probably in order…
My name is Kwasi Boyd-Bouldin, a multidisciplinary creative from Los Angeles. I have found a great deal of success with my photography practice (Archival Recordings) over the past 8 years but the focus of this newsletter is my fine art and design career under the moniker of Nonstndrd. I have been an artist for as long as I can remember and I’m fortunate enough to have been able to leverage that skillset into both a day job that supports my family and a thriving freelance practice. It is a part of me that shapes every aspect of my creative output, from my paintings and drawings to the zines, branding, and websites that I design to promote my photography. My path up until this point is somewhat atypical and so is the work I produce. This newsletter will explore that journey and provide insights into what inspires me to create art and design things daily.
The name “Nontext” is a play on the word “context” and Nonstndrd Creative. I feel like it explains the purpose of this new endeavor pretty well. Thank you for reading as I build up to the full launch of this project next month! Look for another “pre” post next week before the official launch where I delve into my self publishing workflow.
